Open any browser and type wa.me/ followed by the country code and number – without +, spaces or dashes. Example: wa.me/917620798265. Your browser opens WhatsApp with that chat.
Method 3: Search the number inside WhatsApp
In recent versions of WhatsApp, you can open New chat and type the full phone number in the search box. If the number is on WhatsApp, you can start a chat from there. The exact option depends on your app version and phone.
Method 4: Send the number to yourself
Paste the number in your own “Message yourself” chat and tap it. WhatsApp shows an option to chat with that number.
Common problems and fixes
- “Phone number shared via url is invalid” – remove +, spaces, brackets and the leading 0, and add the country code.
- The chat doesn’t open – update WhatsApp, or try WhatsApp Web on a computer.
- No profile photo or name – that’s normal for unsaved numbers.
